Date Night

Ok, so I actually wear this outfit to class. But it’s also the perfect combination of dressed up and casual that makes it work for both running errands and having dinner out.

The skirt is obviously the focal point of the outfit. The tweed plaid pattern is traditional, but the fun color and black leather accents keep it from looking too professor-like. It’s girly with edge– possibly my favorite kind of look.

I’m usually not big on jewelry, because quite honestly I rarely think about putting it on when I’m getting dressed in the morning. However, sometimes an outfit looks incomplete without a little sparkle. This ensemble is a great example of that.

I love the neckline of this shirt, because it’s a little different than your average v-neck. It’s interesting without showing too much skin, as the skirt is on the shorter side and needs to be balanced out. However, that also means that it is overwhelmingly white against the purple of the skirt. A fun necklace helps break up the white space while adding interest and sparkle.

I threw on gladiator sandals with this look because it was about 80 degrees and sunny, but heeled booties would also look fantastic with this outfit!

Finally: that bag. I adore this purse, and I get compliments on it every time I leave the house with it. I got it for about 70% off three years ago and never looked back since. I actually bought it to carry things around Paris with me when I went for my senior project in high school, but it turned out to be too small. I was disappointed and thought it would never get any use. Boy was I wrong. It’s so well-loved that the strap actually broke off (I’m in the process of figuring out how to best reapply it) so for now it’s living its second life as a clutch.

What are your favorite day-to-evening pieces?
