Little Black Dress: Part Two

IMG_2529

As promised, here is part two of my LBD segment, and it’s time for us to kick it up notch and get *fancy*. Unlike adding layers as I did in the last post, I let my little shift dress take center stage.

Perfect for a night out, a few simple accessories make this frock ideal for dressier occasions.

You might not have spotted one of my favorite bits about this outfit– the earrings!  I came across the ear cuff and matching stud in Australia and couldn’t pass them up. My style tends towards a combo of boho-preppy (my wardrobe is quite the mish-mash) but I can’t resist the occasionally edgy piece.

The best part of an ear cuff? You only need one piercing! (The top simply clips to your ear).

I’ve been a compulsive belt-er for most of my life, because I love a nicely defined waist. So believe it or not, an unbelted shift dress is slightly outside my comfort zone! However, I love how this dress falls; it’s unfussy without being a shapeless sack.

Polished comfort was key in this look, from my 5-minute ballet bun (created with a homemade sock shaper!) down to my surprisingly comfortable nude platform heels. (Pro tip: thick heels usually make for a more comfortable heel). Some easy accessories and a scarf– just in case the night gets chilly– add the finishing touches to this chic, low-maintenance night out look.
