Like basically everyone else in the world, I adore the holiday season. I love the lights, the endless cookies, and most of all, the opportunities to get a bit fancy. For this little holiday-themed video, I knew I wanted to center an outfit around that amazing bolero jacket. The catch? I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to go with the traditional LBD or with something a bit more unexpected. Instead of choosing one or the other, I’ve picked the basics (jacket and heels), and created two different looks for whatever mood you’re in! A little naughty and nice, if you will.

A LBD (little black dress) is a staple in any woman’s closet. The trick to pulling off this no-fail piece for the holiday season is to add a little something more; a statement jacket and a pair of sparkly heels take the LBD to the next level of glam.

If you’re feeling daring (or maybe just sick of every dress you own), then a pair of chic black artist-length slacks are your next party go-to. Pair them with a black top for an all-black/always-in ensemble. A touch of sparkle never hurts either!

Bell sleeves are très in, so why not have a little fun with them? This bolero jacket– a birthday gift designed and made by my mentor (and fav. professor)– is the perfect statement piece for any event. And bonus– it’s reversible!
